We’re sad to announce the untimely passing of Thomas Matzke. Tom was Hunny, he was Dad, and Brother, and Grandpa, G’pa, and “Grey Wolf”. He passed away on April 15th at home from an unanticipated medical condition. He leaves behind his loving wife, a son, a daughter, his sisters, his friends and his grandkids. To say he left us too soon is a massive understatement.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be on April 27, 2025 in Orlando. Tom will be buried in Galax, Virginia next to his mother and father, in the family cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Tom’s favorite causes, either the Green Mountain Club or the Appalachian Long Distance Hikers Association (“ALDHA”). The Green Mountain Club is a non-profit that built and maintains Vermont’s Long Trail. The ALDHA is a non-profit committed to preserving hiking trails and other trail issues. Tom was an avid and accomplished hiker.
